GS LLS has carried out soil remediation across 35 hectares of degraded grassland within the DEOH. This work targeted both the physical and chemical properties of the soil (Refer to figure 1 for direct seeding mapping). The soil remediation addressed several known soil issues, including low carbon levels, low pH, reduced calcium, elevated magnesium and manganese and poor soil structure through various soil remediation actions and ameliorants. Following the completion of the soil remediation the 35 hectares was seeded with a sterile cover crop (rye corn) to protect the topsoil from erosion and weed invasion. The site will be ready for direct seeding with native groundcovers (this contract) before Spring 2026.
