Project scope
The Family and Injured Workers Support and Advisory Group (FIWSAG) is a SafeWork NSW constituted and supported group of individuals affected by a workplace incident involving a death, serious injury or illness. The members draw on their lived experience of serious workplace incidents to provide advice to SafeWork NSW about the information and support needs of persons affected by serious workplace incidents to help improve service delivery. Members also advocate for work health and safety in the community and provide support to others in similar circumstances. Clinical psychological support is provided to the FIWSAG to ensure the ongoing psychological safety of all group members and other participants at meetings and events where FIWSAG members are present and/or members stories are shared. Support is delivered via a specialised service model that includes psychological support, counselling, and clinical interventions by an appropriately qualified psychologist, as well as wellbeing support training for members to enable them to provide compassionate support to others in similar circumstances.
