Project scope
The Art Gallery of NSW, LL3 courtyard in Naala Nura (South Building) was a fenced services area with trade vehicle access and limited connection to the adjoining internal gallery areas. As part of the Art Gallery Society (AGS) Lounge refurbishment and creation of the new Children’s and Archive Library, it was identified that the adjoining external courtyard should be reworked to provide: An intimate scaled outdoor space adjacent to the AGS lounge and the library.An acoustic barrier around the space to mitigate the noise from the adjoining roadway; andimplementation of a scheme that is sympathetic to the surrounding Royal Botanic Gardens and Domain Trust (RBGDT) landscape.
